Use images and words or phrases to determine an idea, theme

Collect – open mind – subconscious

  1. Select – edit – three grouping – general ideas
  2. Revisit – Collect – add to collections
  3. Verbalize – add words to each collection


 


 

Stage 2

Develop the idea / mood

Using colour, texture, patterns, lines and brushes

  1. Use three colours to create a colour scheme
  2. Determine the mood of colours dark /light, bright/subdue etc.
  3. Lines determine sight lines – static dynamic
  4. Textures, patterns, brushes help to create rhythm

Pamphlet assignment


End of semester assignments

Make sure that you have completed the end of semester assignments. These assignments include:

1.Submission for the Arts Night.
This is a submission of one or either the Monet, Metamorphis or Vase projects.

2.Submission for the Gallery.
This assignment is your final artistic project which is an individual project that reflects your interest area. This assignment is also posted and an explanation accompanies this assignment on the blog.

3.Poster for Arts In Action.
The Arts in Action is a project that will be juried for the show this spring at the Kelowna Art Gallery. Details of this assignment will be provided.

4.Pamphlet assignment.
Completion of the pamphlet assignment includes the inside and the outside panels of the pamphlet.

Multi-panel Assignment


The multi-panel assignment should have the following design elements: A background the has a colour scheme that repeats in all the panels, an image that is repeated in a variety of ways throughout the various pages, space for type and space for images that will be placed on the backgournd.

Downlaoding font

Down loading font with the school server can be done in the following steps:

1. Locate font that you wish to download.
2. Save on prompt to desktop
3. Locate zip folder on desktop and right click to unzip….use extract all.
4. Click next until you reach finish and then click finish.
5. You will see an open folder with the type file in it.
6. With the existing file open, open the C:Drive folder click Windows then to Font folder.
7. Drag the downloaded font from the zip folder to the Fonts folder
8. Restart the program that you are using and you will find the font that you have downloaded in the fonts list. It will be located in the list in Alpha order.

End of Term Composition Exam






Provide a commentary on the four images and demonstrate that you can discuss and compare these images in terms of: rule of thirds, balance, movement,leading lines, center of attention, dynamic composition, and compositional narrative. Be specific and use examples within the images to when discussing each of the above terms.

Use your blog for the final draft. Check spelling and sentence structure before posting your writing.

Layers Desert Scene Sept 20/2010



In this photoraph,I duplicated the layer and darkened the foreground layer using levels. Then I erased the foreground layer to allow the lighter background to shine through. Finally, I flattened the image and dogged and burned in areas that needed to be enhanced in both the foreground and background.

Peer Evaluation

Use the following considerations to help you evaluate your peers page layout.
1. Background does not distract from the main image, provides support to the theme or topic and helps to establish the mood of the page.

2. Art objects are used to help off set the headers and provide a sense of order ( sight line ) to the page layout.

3. Headers are used in an appropriate manner. The text and fonts help to contribute to the mood and theme.

4. Photographs are used to tell the story in an oderly fashion with a lead image, supporting images that vary in size. All images have had photo protocols applied.

5. Textblocks follow the columns format and use a sarif font.

Framing Portrait


Use the landscape to help create the frame.



Use objects to help frame the subject.

Use shapes and lines to add direction toward the subject.


Framing The Subject

The photograph above is a good example of framing the subject of the photograph. Using existing objects or landscapes can center the attention of the viewer and help create an emphasis to the composition. Also, a good sense of center of attention creates an impact on the viewer's eyes and adds a sense of drama.
